This software is experimental in nature and is being licensed as is. The license does not include any technical support or documentation. Rights to sublicense this software for any commercial or for-profit purpose must be negotiated under a separate agreement with the University of Rennes 1 (France). -------------- Contents -------------- The package is composed of three directories: - "installation": by double clicking on "setup.exe" (inside this directory), the software will be installed on your computer. - "dataSource": it is composed of some test pictures (ex: barba.jpg) with eye tracking data (barba.stat). Note that it is recommended to use the same filename for the picture and the eye tracking data. - "predictedSaliencyMap": this directory contains the predicted saliency maps of pictures in dataSource". Four sets of predicted maps are provided. For that, we have used four state-of-the-art computational models of visual attention ([Itti, PAMI1998], [Le Meur, PAMI2006], [Judd, ICCV2009], [Bruce, NIPS2006]). Some indications to use the software are given below: -------------- Picture by picture analysis -------------- 1- On the menu, choose "File" 2- Open an input picture ("Open input Pict.") 3- Open eye tracking data ("Open data fixation") Statistics are automatically computed. 4- Open a predicted saliency map ("Open predicted SM") The degree of similarity between this prediction and the ground truth is automatically computed -------------- Batch mode -------------- 1 - On the menu choose "Batch Processing" 2 - Select several pictures. For instance, we could select all the pictres contained in the directory "dataSource" 3 - A window is opened and you have to run the analysis. NOTE that the eye tracking data must be in the same directory as the input pictures and must have the same filename (the extension is the only difference) 4 - If you want to compare predicted saliency maps with these ground truth. You have to set up the directory (button "Default Dir. for predicted SM"). In our example, you could choose ".....predictedSaliencyMap\saliency_Itti\". 5 - Click "Run analysis!" -------------- Version -------------- 1 - V1.0 first release 2 - V1.1 adding the possibility to export data computed with the mode batch 3 - V2.0 bug resolution (memory leaks); new functionalities in the batch mode processing (possibility to start the analysis of N fixations from a given start point (fixations). 4 - V2.1 improvement of the radar plot. Distribution of saccade orientation is now available in the batch processing mode (when results are saved in the excel file) 5 - V2.2 output the distribution of saccade orientation per picture (for the batch mode) 6 - V2.3 bug resolution (orientation of saccade amplitudes)
