Who?

I'm a French PhD student at ENS Cachan Brittany extension (normalien) and IRISA. I used to say I'm from a small town in Jura (East of France, close to Switzerland), but I more and more consider myself as a “Breton”: inhabitant of Brittany (West part of France). I arrived in Rennes in 2008 to study at the ENS and I'm willing to stay there as long as I can! Rennes is really a great city, unfortunately cursed by the misconception that it rains all the time (for French people: did you know that it rains way more in Besançon than it does in Rennes?).

I'm interested in many things, starting with music. I played the piano for 7 years in a conservatory, back when I was (very) young. I still play but my level has surely dropped. I started guitar some times ago, also, and own a couple of other instruments such as two ocarinas, an irish flute…

I'm passionate by the Celtic culture and Irland. I went once for a two-weeks trip in this green country and consider it has the most beautiful landscapes I've ever seen (if you ever go there, take a bike from Killarney and ride in the National Park to the Gap of Dunloe, when you reach the top you then go down for several kilometers with a spectacular view).

Well that's some of my interests, I'm not going to describe them all here… On the professional side I'm interested in data management in high performance computing. That's a fairly wide and interesting field in which I entered by working on storage for clouds, then storage for supercomputing, and finally I/O and high-level data management (including data visualization and analysis). I mainly work with my team in France, also with people at NCSA (at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) and Argonne National Lab (also in Illinois).

This webpage will host some of my projects: works for the university (I like to keep track of it, as it can give me ideas for my lectures now that I teach), teaching materials, various personal projects,… I will also publish some interesting documents and tutorials.
